Today it was icky out. Rainy and cloudy. Gross! However, there was a little bit of time were it stopped drizzling, and so I decided to ride! My friend, Caylee, and her brother and Mom were coming over at 2:00. I started riding Bailee at around 1:30 because Caylee wanted to ride her and I wanted to get Bailee calmed down for her. So, she came at 2:00 and since I hadn't been riding Bailee for long, I decided to warm her up a little bit more. So I was loping Bailee, and the I hoed her, and she lifted up her foot like it was hurting. So I hopped of Bailee, and what do you know, she was bleeding! So I walked her up, and washed it up, and what did you know, she cut herself. Right above the bottom of her hoof. She had over reached with her back leg and cut it. So, I cleaned it up, and put some Wonder Dust on it, and hopefully it will heal up niceley soon!!
What kind of horsey emergencies have you been in?

Vet Visit

So...today the vet came out to watch Bailee trot, do a coggins test, and vaccinate her. Bailee did great on her coggins and vaccinations! I trotted and loped Bailee, she was all good with that, but then the vet started making Bailee do a fast 'but' turn around, and found that on her right back leg she isn't so good. She came to the conclusion that Bailee has no signs of lameness, its just like shes missing a plug from her brain to her back leg, since she dosen't always know where to place her back right leg to stay stable. So, she might end up doing tests to see what it is, and she will be calling us either tomorrow or on Monday. I hope Bailee's!! We are wondering if it might be a pinched nerve? I hope that its nothing serious! Wish us luck!!

Today's Ride

Well, its spring!! The ground is un-thawed, and guess what, we can start to manure scoop again! Yay, clean paddocks for our horsey's again!! So, since its such beautiful weather today, I decided to ride! Bailee is almost for years old, and so she usually tries to walk away when I take of her halter to put on her bridle, so usually I end up keeping her halter on. Today was different though! She took the bit without her halter! Yay for Bailee! So, we started out on a good note. Things went pretty good when I was riding her (we ride English). She loped beautifully, pivoted, and trotted O.K.! So, she did pretty good! I'm proud of her!
The county fair is in a few months so here is a list of stuff that we need to get better at before the fair:
-Trotting, keeping the same pace and not loping! (Any tips?)
-Pivotting on the ground (Showmanship)
-I am going to try western pleasure this year, so I have to teach her how to neck reign!
Hopefully we can do it!!
Ohh, and I dewormed Bailee today. You should have seen all of the green! She got green paste all over her face, on her leg all over, and on me! Haha!
How was your day with your horses? I know I had a fun day!!

Meet My Horse

Hello!
My horse is a registered Tennessee Walking horse. She is three years old and is so naughty! My Dad and I trained her. Right now, my family and I are out of state, so she is at home being boarded. Boy, do I miss her!
Her name is Apaches Princess Bailee. However, her barn name is just Bailee. When we got her, we changed her name spelling to two e's at the end in stead of ey!
I have loved Bailee since I first met her, when she was still drinking milk from Buttercup, her Mom! I took very disappointing horse lessons from her owner for about 2 years before starting to take real lessons. Then, in the Summer of 2008, we were searching for horses, and I found a nice yearling, named Donkey, I planned on changing his name to Lucky. We decided to go to a horse auction just to see, before we bought Lucky. We were looking at all of the different horses, and what do you know, there is Bailee! You can imagine the tears. We ended up purchasing her, even though we had no spot to put her. That was one of the best days of my life. Bailee stayed at the ladies house until we had finished building a log shelter for her, and a nice big pen for her. It was so very exciting when she came home two weeks later!
Now, I miss her much, and am so excited to start riding her again this Spring/Summer!!
Now that I have told you about Bailee, you shall tell me about your horses!
